OpenStreetMap (OSM) Map Generation¶
The OpenStreetMap Map Generation Pipeline generates a map from OpenStreetMap (OSM) data. Instead of preparing reference data yourself, you enter the area you need and RepliMap generates a map of that area, ready to be opened, edited, validated, and exported like any other map.
New in RepliMap 8.2.2
The OpenStreetMap Map Generation Pipeline is available from RepliMap 8.2.2. See the release notes.
Selected countries only
The pipeline is currently available for selected countries only. If it is not available for your area, the country may not be supported yet.
At a Glance¶
| Data source | OpenStreetMap (OSM) |
| Input | Area address or latitude / longitude values |
| Output | A RepliMap map of the selected area |
| Availability | Selected countries, from RepliMap 8.2.2 |
| Next steps | Edit, validate, and export like any other map |
Inputs¶
Define the area to generate in one of the following ways:
Enter the address of the area you want to generate.
Use this when you know the name or address of the place.
Enter the latitude and longitude values of the area you want to generate.
Use this when you need a precise location.
How to Generate a Map from OpenStreetMap¶
- Open the pipeline: Open the OpenStreetMap Map Generation Pipeline in RepliMap.
- Define the area: Enter an area address or latitude/longitude values.
- Generate the map: Start the pipeline. RepliMap generates a map of the selected area from OpenStreetMap data.
- Review and refine: Inspect the generated map on the canvas and refine roads, objects, and signals with the regular editing tools.
- Validate and export: Run the Validator and export the map in the required format.

Before You Export¶
Generated maps are a starting point. Review the map before you use it in simulation:
| Check | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Junctions and lane connections | Make sure roads are connected correctly. | Create Road — Junctions with lane slots |
| Signals and signs | Confirm traffic control elements are where you expect them. | Signals |
| Validation | Find consistency and correctness issues. | Validator |
